The Backpack Farm team is pleased to release its 2011 "KUZA" (Grow / Cultivate) Agriculture Training Manual. More than access to finance and green agri-tech, training is the key to transforming the lives of smallholder farmers not only in Kenya and East Africa but around the world.
Designed to support (TOT) training programs and trainers with agronomic qualifications, the manual is filled with advice and recommendations for sustainable and organic farming practices. This year's manual covers eight (8) core sectors including, soil management; water management; pesticides & crop protection; pests & diseases; plant stress; harvest and value chain; organic solutions; and sanitation & health.
As part of our commitment to supporting Africa's smallest green farmers, we decided to release the manual as a FREE resource. Only by sharing information, can we ensure the capacity of rural farmers translates to improved quality and quantity of food production. We hope to improve the manual every year and can only do this with your constructive feedback.
We also hope to encourage more commercial organizations to invest time and resources into this untapped marketplace. By sharing information, we also learn more about the potential of green farming to change the world.
We look forward to your feedback and future cooperation.
